Lessons Rewind: Episode 83
The lessons shared on my show are so important which is why I am started a Lessons Rewind blog series to revisit these learning experiences. One common lesson learned that I hear frequently from guests on my show is to choose your partner wisely before heading out into the backcountry.
In Episode 83, Ryan and I discuss this lesson and also examine its flipside: We need to be good partners too.
Being a good partner means showing up with the skills, drive, attitude, and outdoor knowledge to support yourself and your partner in the mountains.
We cannot expect our partners to always be able to get us down, always be in charge of the maps, always check the weather conditions beforehand, or always have extra water on hand. We need to be the prepared partner on every trip too.
How do you prepare beforehand to make sure that you are also being a good partner or group member on your outdoor adventures?
